Earth-Centered Joys & Sorrows
As we breathe in and out, trading streams of oxygen and carbon dioxide with the trees and the oceans and each other,
we know that we are united in air.
As we feel our hearts beat with warmth, and as we share the abundance of the sun with all life,
we know that we are united in fire.
As we recall the waters of the womb and thirst for clean waters that flow through rivers and oceans and skies and aquifers,
we know that we are united in water.
As we experience our own physical bodies and find our center upon the common ground that supports us all,
we know that we are united in earth.
We are interdependent with this planet and with each other in this community. In recognition of the life we share, we take this moment to remember our joys and sorrows.
[Minister names the joys and sorrows submitted by the community, remembering also the unspoken joys and sorrows.]
The spiral of life moves on and on, carrying us through victories and struggles, beginnings and endings, questions and mysteries. For all these moments on the spiral, for all of our loved ones named and unnamed, we give our thanks and our blessing.
