Spring Holidays Prayer, April 5, 2020
Spirit of Life and Love, known by many names and yet fully known by none, we open our minds and hearts to you and to each other as we balance on this threshold of time.
From the stories of Passover, may we draw the resolve to remember the stranger, to gather all of our people, to leave behind the old ways that fail to uphold justice and community care, and to stay connected in our journey through the unknown.
In the stories of Palm Sunday and Holy Week, may we find the inspiration for healing the sick, proclaiming release from oppression, driving greed out of the sacred places, and bearing compassionate witness at the end of life and at the beginning.
As some of us and some of our neighbors look ahead toward Ramadan, beginning April 24, may we find meaning in preparing for a time of spiritual discipline, generosity, and connection with the source of life.
All-embracing love, let us rest in you as we pray for those who are ill, those who are grieving, those who are caring for others, those who are most impacted by the shock of these difficult times. Reveal to us the ways we can join in solidarity as some of us and some of our neighbors lose income, homes, health care, and loved ones. Keep our hearts open.
Eternal one of blessing, call our attention to the life and growth that persist. Awaken us to the beauty of spring and the beauty in the souls of our loved ones. Lead us to gratitude for the people and the forces that create and uphold life.
We continue our prayers in a moment of silence.
Amen.
